September is here

Well, it still feels like summer, but fall really is here. September is always a fun time at the maze. Not only does is get dark sooner, which means there is a bigger challenge later in the day, but the days become even more exciting also. School tours are available by appointment during the week and the maze is open in the evenings. On Fridays and Saturdays, the maze is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The pumpkin slingshot is up and running on Saturdays, and there are free hayrides going on also on Saturdays. Don't miss out on a fun-filled weekend at the cornmaze!

2011 Corn Maze Season!

Howdy Folks,

So it's half-way through August and I haven't updated about the new season yet! Well, we're up and running for another year. This year's maze design is a Compass Rose, and it's actually aligned with the correct directions. So, for anyone good with directions, this maze should be easy, right? Well, not so much! The corn is tall, the paths are winding, well, you get the idea. It's time to GET LOST! This year's maze is actually 9 acres, which is slightly larger than other years. Also, the tower in the center has been rebuilt with an even better birds-eye-view.
Don't worry, the maze is not impossibly difficult, the average time is still about 45 minutes, but ranges anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours. Also, for those who don't really like to get lost, there is a trivia maze that takes about 10 to 15 minutes, and a kid's maze which can be done in a couple of minutes. And, if you don't like the idea of getting lost at all, there is the petting zoo, which is perfect for small children and people of all ages.
Whichever maze you decide to do, never fear, if you get too lost, we harvest in November, and if you can run faster than the harvester, you'll be fine!

October and the Last Week!

October here was a lot of fun! We had our special fundraising event for Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child on Thanksgiving Monday. With your help we were able to raise over $1,700 for kids who are living in poverty. Thank you for your support of this worth-while organization! Now we are into our last week. Saturday October 23rd is the last day that we are open for this season. For now it looks like the weather should be nice for the rest of the week, so we are enjoying the sunshine! Oh, and another interesting fact: the Lethbridge Cornmaze now has a facebook page. There is an official page which you can 'like' as well as an un-official group which you can join. And it is actually updated more regularly than this blog! Feel free to check it out.

September Hours, Farm Festival, and the Colouring Contest

Howdy folks!
Well, school has started, and with it has come our new hours. Now our hours of operation are Monday-Thursday from 5pm - 8pm, and on Friday-Saturday from 10am - 9pm, with Sundays still being closed. We've got some new fun stuff going on this month too! There is a colouring contest to win tickets to a "Wiggles" show. Also, there will be a Farm Festival at the Lethbridge Cornmaze on September 11. This should be a fun day filled with activities for the whole family. There will be pig wrestling, hay rides, pumpkin launching, a barbecue, facepainting, and a whole lot more! It's going to be a fun day!
Well here is the colouring picture, feel free to print it out.

This year's maze

Well, here it is: a picture of this year's maze. This year, the design is the "flying shoebox" symbol from Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child. Each of the circles that you see contain something that can be put in a shoebox for children living in poverty around the world. Also, you can see the words 'Samaritan's Purse' and 'Christmas Child' cut out in the maze. We will be doing a fundraiser for Samaritan's Purse later on in the year. The trivia this year also centers around Samaritan's Purse and the poverty that they work to relieve. If you make it out this year, be sure to try the trivia and learn something more about this organization that impacts many lives around the world. Well, that's all I can show you from here. If you want a better look, or better yet, an a-maze-ing experience, drop by and see it for yourself.
Until then, enjoy your summer.

Getting closer to the big day!

The weather is HOT! the corn is growing, the design is all cut out, and the big day is coming! It's almost July 31st, which means it's almost opening day. Starting July 31st we are open every Monday-Saturday in August from 10:00 in the morning to 9:00 at night, meaning we let people in until 9:00 and shut down at 10:00 pm. The critters are already getting excited about the hand-fed treats they'll get, and the staff is spreading straw on the paths to make it nice walking. The water guns are watering the cornfield, but no worries, it will be dry enough by Saturday! Oh, and guess who's coming out on Saturday as well? 94.1 FM (The Lounge) is sending out their 'Summer Events Cruiser'. Sounds like heaps of fun! See you soon!! Enjoy the heat.

The weather is warm and the corn is growing!

Hi again!

Summer is here and the cornmaze is winding up for another season! Well, thankfully there is lots of heat going around right now, and the corn is growing well. In fact, the maze is being cut out into this year's design this week. The design is still a secret right now, but the maze will be opening on July 31st this year, so you might just have to come out and see it. Opening day is only a month away! Well, that's all there is to say for now, while we wait for the corn to grow some more. Until then, enjoy the warm weather we're having!
